Role Overview

The City of Westminster Council is recruiting a Casework Support Officer to join the Homeless Services team within the Housing & Commercial Partnership directorate.

This is a temporary position supporting a peak in workload, providing vital casework and administrative support to help vulnerable residents access the housing assistance they need. The role requires excellent communication skills, strong organisational ability, and a compassionate, proactive approach to service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise professionally with staff, service users, and external partners via email and telephone.

  • Accurately record and manage case information using systems, databases, and spreadsheets.

  • Proactively follow up on queries and workstreams, ensuring timely resolution.

  • Communicate empathetically with residents, particularly those experiencing homelessness or crisis.

  • Draft correspondence, compile reports, and maintain compliant documentation.

  • Support the Homeless Services team with administrative and coordination tasks to ensure service efficiency.

  • Work flexibly within an agile, hybrid environment while maintaining excellent attention to detail.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a customer service or case management role.

  • Previous experience working in or alongside homelessness or housing services.

  • Strong written and numerical skills with high attention to accuracy.

  • Confident and empathetic communicator, able to handle sensitive conversations.

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload under pressure.

  • Strong IT literacy, including use of Microsoft Office and case management systems.

  • Duration: 27th October 2025 – 19th January 2026

  • Hours: 36 per week (Mon–Fri, 9:00–17:00)

  • Estimated Supply Total: £28,393.20

  • Reports To: Casework Team Lead – Homeless Services
